Frequently Asked Questions

Fiber internet, also known as fiber-optic internet or simply "fiber", is a form of broadband fiber that uses a network of bundled tiny glass fibers called fiber optic cables to deliver internet service via light waves. It offers incredibly fast upload and download speeds, low latency, and high reliability.

Fiber internet is one of the fastest and most reliable options available. It allows for smooth video calls, ultra-fast downloads and uploads, lag-free gaming, and seamless streaming, even in 4K or 8K. It’s especially great for households with multiple people using the internet at the same time, as it can handle heavy usage without slowing down.

With a direct, hardwired connection, we can provide speeds up to 8 Gbps, as long as your device has a multi-gig ethernet card. Wi-Fi speeds, however, can vary depending on your home’s layout and the wireless device you are using.

Residential fiber internet works by sending pulses of light through fiber-optic cables made of hundreds of thing glass or plastic strands, each about the size of a human hair. At the transmitting source, the light signals are encoded with data, and then transmitted to the receiving end, where the light signal is decoded as data. These light signals travel at the speed of light, resulting in high-speed and reliable internet connections.

Residential Fiber internet, or Fiber to the Home, can be installed in a variety of ways. With Ezee Fiber, the installation process includes three main steps. First, Ezee Fiber places underground fiber optic cables along a meticulously planned and approved engineered route. Second, Fiber is then run underground to a small utility box outside your home called an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The ONT contains the hardware needed to connect the fiber optic cable to your home's optical network. Lastly, an Ezee Fiber technician will come to your home and install the router and connector, and conduct tests to ensure a successful installation.

The main difference between fiber and cable internet lies in the type of connection and the materials used for data transmission. Fiber uses advanced glass or plastic fibers to transmit data, while cable internet relies on copper wires, which were originally designed for TV service, not internet.

Another key difference is that Fiber internet offers a symmetrical connection, meaning the upload and download speeds are equal. In contrast, cable internet provides an asymmetrical connection, where download speeds are faster than upload speeds.

Fiber’s symmetrical connection is one of its biggest advantages, especially for activities that require fast uploads, like video conferencing or cloud storage.

Absolutely not! There is NO data shortage on our network so there are no caps or limits to the amount of data you can send or receive.

A single Gigabit contains 1 million bits, meaning 1 Gig transfers data at 1000 million bits per second. Other names for “1 Gig internet” are “1000 Mbps”, "1,000 megabits", “1G” or “1 Gbps”. A 1 Gig internet connection enables you to connect multiple devices and multiple users simultaneously. By using the same math, 2 Gig transfers data at 2000 million bits per second, 5 Gig transfers data at 5000 million bits per second and 8 Gig transfers data at 8000 million bits per second.

This depends on the number of devices connected at the same time in one household as well as their usage. We recommend 2 Gig, or 2,000 Mbps, or higher speeds to provide enough bandwidth for all users in the home.

Stay connected with Ezee.
