Houston internet provider's senior director of marketing explains how families can test their home Wi-Fi and stop homework-time buffering

3 steps for back-to-school Wi-Fi

Count connected devices. Take five minutes to add up every phone, laptop, tablet, smart TV, and gaming console on the network. How many devices a home Wi-Fi network can comfortably support depends on the plan and router in place, which is why this step matters before troubleshooting anything else.
Test internet speed during peak hours. Run a speed test in the evening — when usage is highest — not just first thing in the morning.
Match the internet plan to the household's needs. A plan that worked for a smaller household or lighter usage may no longer be enough once device count and usage grow.
